At an event held in Seoul, Korea, VP of Android at Google, Dave Burke said that the company sees itself having a long-term partnership with LG. He even called LG as the “best partner” for engineering Nexus smartphones.

Google and LG have now worked together for 3 Nexus handsets: Nexus 4 in 2012, Nexus 5 in 2013, and Nexus 5X in 2015. Burke said during the event that engineers of both companies have developed a good chemistry between them because of their long partnership.

“LG Electronics is the best partner for us in engineering the Nexus smartphones. We share the same approach to the mobile device market with LG Electronics.

Our engineers really like to work with the people at LG Electronics. Together they have become an excellent team,” he said.

Considering that the Nexus 5 was the most popular Nexus handset ever released by Google yet, this statement from Burke should not really come as a surprise.

The LG-made Nexus 5X will be first available in Korea through SK Telecom, KT, and LG Uplus from October 20, while the Huawei-made Nexus 6P will make its way later to the country across all the three carriers.
