Why trust Greenbot
Yesterday Google started rolling out the over-the-air (OTA) update for Android 7.0 Nougat for some Nexus devices, and a couple of others.
But, unlike Google, the company didn’t release the factory images for all of those devices at the same time. Instead, like the rest of the release of Android 7.0 Nougat, Google has taken a bit of an unorthodox approach from how it typically handles these types of updates. Today, for instance, sees the first batch of factory images for Android 7.0 Nougat get released, but there are some devices not included in the first batch.
As it stands right now, Google has released factory images for the Nexus 9 (Wi-Fi), the Nexus Player, and the Pixel C tablet. That means devices like the Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X, the most recent Nexus-branded smartphones, still don’t have factory images released by Google just yet.
Still, that should be happening soon — perhaps even later today, since the first batch has been made public. If that happens, we’ll update this post accordingly. And once you’re ready to update your Nexus device with its factory image, you can check out the steps necessary right here.
