Google has just released its brand new Google Camera app on the Play Store for all Android devices running KitKat or higher. The new Camera app is different from the stock Camera app that ships with Nexus devices and packs in a new UI and many new features.

The app sports a streamlined and easier to use UI that provides access to all the required options via a simple swipe. Sadly, the company still does not provide users with greater access to manual controls like ISO, Scenes, Contrast and more.

Google has also taken this opportunity to fix the wrong aspect ratio in the viewfinder by cropping it, even though it looks slightly awkward on the Nexus 5. A notable addition to the app is the Lens Blur mode that will allow users to click photos with the popular “bokeh” effect.

The Camera app also incorporates all the other features present in the AOSP camera app including Photosphere, a high resolution Panorama Mode, HDR+ on the Nexus 5 and the ability to record videos.

If your Android device is running KitKat, you can head over to the Play Store and download Google Camera right away. If you are using a Nexus 5, the app should up as an update for the existing Google Camera app on your device. You can also manually download the APK from here.
