At Google I/O this year, Google announced that it will be bringing the option to share apps, games, movies, and other content purchased from Google Play Store among family members. Today, it has finally started rolling out the feature dubbed Google Play Family Library.
The feature will allow up to six people in a family to share their purchased content with each other. The feature works like this: there will be one primary Google account with all the purchases, and other family members (up to five) can then download and use the same apps, games, and other purchases on their devices. You also have the option of removing certain apps, games, and titles from being shared with your other family members.
Any purchases made by other family members will be billed to the primary Google account, with the receipt being mailed to that account as well.
Right now, Google Play Family Library is only available in the following countries:
- Australia
- Brazil
- Canada
- France
- Germany
- Japan
- United Kingdom
- United States
There are some other regulations that you need to meet as well before you can set up family sharing. This includes having a valid credit card linked to your Google Play account, be 18 years or older, and not have a Google account through your work or school.
