Play Store gets a new Search bar

Google has started rolling out an update for Play Store that makes the action bar smarter. The action bar will now automatically act as a search bar when you open the Play Store first and disappears as soon as you scroll down or navigate to any category.

The update was teased on Google+ by Kirill Grouchnikov (brownie points to you if you are able to spell his last name correctly!), one of the UI/UX specialist in Google’s Android team. This functionality is similar to how the Search bar in Google Now behaves, which automatically hides as soon as you scroll down to view the cards.

In other sections of the Play Store, users can tap the search icon on the action bar, which will bring up the search bar with a streamlined animation.

The update also reintroduces the slick Hamburger-to-arrow animation as seen in the above GIF, which was hidden by the slide-out hamburger menu that was added by Google in the previous Google Play update.

This is a server side update so there is no APK, which you can install to automatically get this new feature.
