The Nokia X series of handsets might be running Android, but they are devoid of all the precious Google Play apps and services like the Play Store, Play Services and more. However, being a device that actually runs Android in its core, it was just a matter of time before someone managed to get the whole suite of Play Services on the Nokia X and its other siblings.
In fact, by the last day of the Mobile World Congress, the Nokia X had been rooted with someone from CyanogenMod team already working on bringing their ROM to it. Someone even managed to get Nova launcher up and running on the handset to gain access to the traditional Android UI.
Today, thanks to XDA member, Kashamalaga, future Nokia X owners can easily install the whole Google Apps suite on it. This means you can gain access to the Play Store, Play Services which is a critical component for many apps to work properly and other Google apps like Chrome, Gmail and even the Google Now launcher.
The steps do require root access but since the Nokia X runs on Android 4.1.2, it can be done pretty easily using the Permaroot exploit. Now, it is just a matter of time before someone releases a fully functional KitKat based ROM for the Nokia X series of handsets.
