Google Play Store 5.0 leak

Back in July, the first wave of Material Design updates began making their way to some elements of the Google Play Store, long before the Material Design movement Google showcased at I/O this year really take hold across the board for many Google products. A batch of leaked new images showcases what the Google Play Store 5.0 update will look like.

The images were surfaced by Android Police, and published alongside images of the current aesthetic approach to the Play Store. The comparison is worthwhile, as it shows that Google is indeed changing up just about everything when it comes to the digital storefront. The colors and options are flatter. There is a bigger focus on hero images, with slight tweaks to associated content, and color blocks.

What’s interesting in the original article, too, is that it looks like Google is indeed going to flesh out the idea of restoring some applications on a per-device basis. Meaning, as you bring a new Android-based device into the family, Google will let you select which apps you want to restore on that device, rather than dealing with the flood of apps as you initially set it up.
