With the Samsung Galaxy S8 launching today, Google and Samsung have announced a partnership that sees the Korean company make Google Play Music the default music player on its latest flagship handset.
The partnership will also entitle Galaxy S8 owners to certain benefits while using Google Play Music. Firstly, users are offered twice the storage capacity on Google Play Music. This means that they will be able to upload 100,000 songs from their music library to Play Music for free.
Secondly, Galaxy S8 owners will be offered three months of free Google Play Music subscription. Where available, the offer will also include YouTube Red. The offer will be available to all new Samsung Galaxy phones and tablets and not just the Galaxy S8. Sadly, the three month free trial will only be available for new Play Music subscribers and not to existing ones.
Google will also be integrating Google Play Music with Samsung’s Bixby virtual assistant when it launches later this year. This will allow S8 owners to be able to use the virtual assistant to play any music on Play Music easily.
