Google Play Games Gamer ID

After dropping the requirement of having a Google+ account to use Google Play Games, Google today introduced Gamer IDs to it. Think of Gamer IDs as as gamer tag in Xbox Live: you can create a persona and then customise it according to your liking by selecting avatars and more.

You can select whether you want your gaming activity to be public or not, and whether other fellow gamers will be able refer to you using your email ID or name. Your Gamer ID will be used across leaderboards and when playing games.

If you are signing into Google Play Games for the first time, you will be prompted to create your Gamer ID first. If you are already a Google Play Games user, you will be prompted to create your Gamer ID when you sign in to the first game that supports this new Play Games integration.

Gamer IDs will be unique so make sure to grab your ID from the Google Play Games app right away.

Additionally, as announced earlier, Google is making it easier to use Play Games. Sign in once into the service from one game and you will automatically be signed in to “most” games in the future.
