Google announced at Google I/O that Play Games would be receiving numerous new features going forward, and the first update towards that end has begun rolling out. Play Games is getting updated to version 2.0, which brings news features and makes various changes to the app’s interface.
Version 2.0 introduces a new card in the Play now screen for displaying the XP and level gained by you, with the XP earned divided by what game genre you have accumulated them in and an indication of the XP required to advance to the next level. Furthermore, gaining a level will now pop up a notification, as long as you enable the newly added option in the app’s settings.
Also new in the update is the ability to view your friends’ achievement by tapping their faces, and a dedicated section to keep track of all Quests, the groundwork for which was laid out in a recent update to Google Play Services. Other changes include various visual tweaks, such as resized tabs in the All My Games and Players sections, and a new way to see saved games.
The update is now live on the Play Store and will become available for everyone over the next few days, though impatient folks can grab the APK from the link below and update manually.
