Later this year, Google will announce a successor to the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, and a new report aims to shed some light on what may be coming down the pipe.
According to Bloomberg, Google is planning on launching both the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL in October. When the handsets arrive, the Pixel 3 will share a design that’s similar to the Pixel 2 before it, which basically means plenty of bezels to hold onto. Meanwhile, the Pixel 3 XL will reportedly adopt a more familiar design with minimized bezels and a “nearly edge-to-edge” screen. There will be a chin, too, which lines up with leaked screen protectors for both handsets.
The Pixel 3 XL will have a notch design, with the report indicating that Google will be adopting a “taller” notch than what’s present on the iPhone X. That may indicate that the notch will cut a bit more into the display of the Pixel 3 XL.
The report goes on to add that Google won’t be adopting a dual camera setup for either new smartphone this year, and both will boast just a single shooter on their backs. However, the Pixel 3 XL will reportedly boast two front-facing cameras, but the report didn’t go into any detail on what Google might be planning for that second camera lens.
When the phones launch in October, Verizon Wireless will reportedly be the exclusive launch carrier for the handsets — just like it was with the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. But if you prefer unlocked handsets, Google will be offering both in unlocked variants from its online storefront, too.
