One of the features that Google Photos has been missing is the ability to quickly add a photo or video as a favorite.
But that is finally changing beginning today. The Google Photos team officially announced today via Twitter that it is adding a Favorites feature into the app this week. It is a pretty straightforward idea: Simply tap the star icon while you’re viewing a photo or video and it will quickly add a Favorites designation to that content. After that, all of your photos or videos that have been favorited will go into a dedicated folder, making them a bit easier to find.
That’s not all, though. On top of that, Google Photos is getting a bit more social. The company also posted on Twitter that it is adding the ability for Photos users to quickly “heart” a photo or video that has been shared with them. Similar to what you’ve seen on social networks like Instagram. It’s just as easy as adding a favorite: Just select the heart icon on a photo or video and you’ll quickly share your love for the content with the person that shared it with you.
If you don’t have either one of these icons as part of your Google Photos experience just yet, keep an eye out. Google says they are coming soon.
What do you think of the two newest features for Google Photos? Better late than never?
