Google has announced that starting from today Google Photos will automatically curate your best photos taken during a holiday or an event and create a new album with them for you.
By doing this, the company is making sure that you don’t have to go through the tedious process of sorting all your holiday photos and then adding only those in an album that are worth it.
The ‘smart’ albums in Google Photos will also show how far you have traveled and use location pins to make sure that you can remember the exact place where you went to, when you check the album a few months or years down the line.
Google will also allow you to add text captions to photos in an album so that you can describe a particular shot or scene better. Plus, you can always enable the collaboration feature to allow your friends or family to also add photos to an album.
Some of the new features for ‘smarter’ albums will also be available for your existing albums, including the ability to customise them with maps, locations, pins and text.
The new album experience in Google Photos is rolling out to iOS, Android and web users from today.
Google Photos is easily my favorite photo backup and sharing tool, and once in every few months, Google keeps making the service better. Smarter album is just the perfect example of this as it lets you directly enjoy your vacation photos right after you come back from one, rather than having to go through the tedious process of sorting them first.
