At its I/O conference last week, Google unveiled Photos — a rebranded cloud based photo backup service with unlimited storage space. Initial impressions of the service have been overwhelmingly positive, with almost everyone praising the search algorithm of Google Photos that makes managing and find photos much easier.

A handy feature that Google has included in its new Photos app is a reminder to delete local copies of photos stored on your Android device to save space. The app will pop up a notification on your Android device and will show the suggestion under the ‘Assistant’ tab to delete local copies of your photos, when the storage space on the device is running low.

It will also only find and delete local copies of only those photos that have been backed up to the cloud and are more than 30 days old.

Have you switched to Google Photos yet? Or are you happy with your current cloud storage photo backup service?
