Google has just announced improvements and additions to seven Google Now cards that make the service even more powerful than it already is. There’s a new car rentals card, so you’ll get glanceable information as soon as you step out of an airport. There’s a concert ticket card, so you don’t have to go trawling through your email to get into that new Die Antwoord show in town. There’s a new commute sharing card, so you can inform people when you’ve left work and are on your way home. And that’s just scratching the surface.
The public transportation card has been improved to automatically show you when the next bus or train is coming. The TV card can actually tell you more about the program you’re watching (how does that work?!). The media card also gains the ability to set reminders, so say you look up your favorite band. When they release a new album, you’ll get pinged.
And finally, for sports fans, scores for your favorite NCAA teams are now available.
Personally, I never use Google Now, but I know a lot of people who swear by it and say it’s why they can’t ever imagine switching from Android to iOS. Maybe it’s because I’m in a country with limited Google service that my Google Now experience is poor? I don’t honestly know. What do you think?
