More than a month after being initially listed on Google Play in India, the HTC manufactured Google Nexus 9 is finally available for sale in the country. However, the tablet is available for purchase on Amazon India, and not through Google’s own online store.
Sadly, only the 16GB Wi-Fi edition of the tablet is on sale, with no signs of the 32GB Wi-Fi or the LTE variant making their way to India anytime soon. The 8.9-inch tablet has a 4:3 aspect ratio with QXGA (2048*1536) resolution display. It is also the first Android tablet to be powered by Nvidia’s custom dual-core 64-bit Denver processor, and runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop.Other specs of the tablet include 2GB RAM, an 8MP rear camera, a 1.6MP front-facing camera, BoomSound speakers and a 6700mAh internal battery.
The tablet is retailing for Rs. 28,900 (~$480) in India, which is higher than the retail price of $349 of the tablet in the United States. To sweeten the deal, Amazon is bundling a gift card worth Rs. 2000 with the tablet, but the offer is only valid until December 12, 2014.
