Google was busy with updates on Wednesday, January 14, and that trend continued on with an update to Google Maps as well.
The update officially went live in the evening of January 14, and as of the time of this writing the official landing page within the Google Play store reflects the update — which was originally discovered by Android Police. Along with the update, Google added a few key features that should make users plenty happy.
First and foremost, Google Maps now supports shareable directions. After a user inputs a desired address and calls up some form of transit directions, those can be shared from the standard sharing tool within the app. That means they can be sent to pretty much any other app on your device, which should make giving directions even easier than they already were.
Secondly, the update also includes the ability to dismiss the notification for location settings, like if Wi-Fi is not turned on. Once the little dialogue box is checked, the pop-up should not encroach on a user’s Map usage afterwards.
As mentioned above, Google is showing the update as live now, but as over the air updates tend to take time, if the update hasn’t appeared on your device just yet, don’t fret. A link to the app is available just below.
