One of the many features baked into Google Maps is transit information, allowing users to keep track of mass transit options while in certain cities.
That ability is getting a bit better in the latest update to Google Maps, which the company says will begin rolling out today. With it, Google Maps adds information for “relevant journeys,” which means that users will get information pertaining to the next leg of their trip right within the app. Essentially, this will provide more information to the user that might miss a bus, or subway ride, and give them options for what to do next.
On top of that, Google is also expanding real-time transit information to more cities across the globe. Two new countries are being added, as well as four new major metropolitan areas. Google is adding another 25 partners to the already long-list of entities that helps Google parse the necessary transit information, with these new partners providing more information in Chicago, Illinois; San Francisco, California; Seattle, Washington; Budapest, Hungary; the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.
This should be available for Android users beginning today.
