Google Maps Transit

Google Maps will now automatically notify you when your stop is approaching while on a public transit and you should get ready to get down. This will ensure that you will not end up missing your stop or forget your belongings while in a hurry to get down on your stop.

The feature was previously present in a very old version of Google Maps but was given the boot when the app got a huge redesign. Google Maps also had turn-by-turn notifications while you are driving but not when you use it while on a public transport. Nonetheless, Google is reintroducing the feature and while the company’s announcement only mentions Android, the feature is also available on iOS.

A new feature on Google Maps for Android keeps you on track with departure times, ETAs and a notification that tell you when to transfer or get off your bus or train. And you can track your progress along the way just like you can in driving, walking or biking directions.

In addition to a push notification, Google Maps will now also show a notification so that you can keep a track on your transit points manually as well.
