Google has just announced its latest Nexus tablet — the HTC made Nexus 9. The tablet comes with “brushed aluminium sides” and a soft grip plastic back with subtle curves making it comfortable for work and play.

The Nexus 9 comes with thin left and right bezels to make it compact and easier to use one-handed. The 8.9-inch IPS LCD on the device features a 4:3 aspect ratio with a resolution of 2440*1440. HTC has also incorporated front-facing stereo speakers inside the top and bottom bezels of the device to deliver astounding sound quality.

Under the hood, the tablet is powered by Nvidia’s 64-bit Tegra K1 chip and packs in 3GB of RAM. Other specs of the tablet include a 6700mAh battery, 16/32GB of storage space, 8MP rear camera and a 1.6MP front-facing shooter.

The Nexus 9 will be available in three colors — White, Black and Gold and will go up for pre-order on October 17th.

Google and HTC are also releasing a Bluetooth keyboard folio for the Nexus 9 today that magnetically attaches to it. The folio can also fold into two different angles and can be used as a stand on your lap as well.
