Google Family Library

Families like to share content, from books, TV shows, and movies, and making that as easy as possible is key.

For Google and its Play Store, the digital storefront that provides access to a range of content, that is getting much easier. The company has just announced the Family Library, which will allow users who buy content from that particular digital storefront the ability to add content as they see fit, and share it to up to six different family members across devices. That means games, movies, TV shows, books, and comic books.

Family members can choose which content they want to share by adding it directly to the Family Library, and then also choose which content isn’t available to share as well. It’s an easy sign-up process, and there’s no extra fees in place. There needs to be a credit card or debit card put in place for family purchases, but each individual family member has the ability to pay for the content with their own card, or gift card, as well. The younger family members can have their purchases approved before they go through, too.

Google Play Family Library is rolling out now, and it will be available in Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States over the next few days. Google Play Music Family Plan is also expanding to Ireland, Italy, Mexico, and New Zealand.
