The Google Keyboard version that Google bundles with the Android N developer preview features customisable themes. Today, Google is rolling out an update to the keyboard that brings the same feature to all other Android devices that are running Marshmallow or lower.

The update is adding support for 15 new themes to the keyboard, with the option of adding your own image as a background for the theme as well. You will also get the option of customising the transparency of the background according to your liking. The updated theme selector also makes it easier to switch between themes.

For Android N users, the only new noteworthy feature in this update is support for Unicode 9 emoji with the option to select your desired skin tone for the emoji.

In addition to Google Keyboard, Google is also rolling out an update for its Clock app. The update primarily adds support for Android N’s multi-window and Direct Boot feature.

In typical Google fashion, both updates are being rolled out in stages by Google. If you cannot wait for the update to show up on your Android device though, you can always sideload the APK by downloading them from here and here.
