Google has started rolling out an update for the Google Keyboard that brings with it two new Material Design inspired themes. The themes are similar to the ones found on the preview images of Lollipop for the Nexus 5 and Nexus 7.

The new themes — Material Dark and Material Light — are keeping in line with the Material Design guidelines from Google and have a flat and sleek look. The update does not introduce any new functionality apart from these two new themes and restoring the ability to customize the long press duration, which was removed by Google in a previous update.

The new themes are also available to all Android 4.1+ devices, though you will have to activate it manually by going to the Keyboard settings -> Theme and selecting either the Material Light or Material Dark theme.

The update is live on the Play Store but might not show up immediately. You can always manually sideload the APK by downloading it from here though.
