The Google Home lineup already has a few different options, but it looks like Google is preparing to add one more device to the mix at some point in the near future.

MySmartPrice has a new report out on Tuesday that outlines what is being called the Google “Home Hub”. And as the title suggests, this is a device that’s meant to be used as a primary device in an effort to bridge smart devices in the home. The Home Hub is a smart speaker that will also feature a 7-inch display, which is a touchscreen but it sounds like a full tablet-like experience won’t be what Google’s aiming for with the Home Hub.

Instead, the device will more than likely feature a Google Assistant-based UI, with big cards taking up the majority of the UI. It will also support the standard Google Assistant voice commands, so owners will be able to get updates on weather, the news, and much more. It will also link up to other smart devices in the house, including cameras, so owners can say something like, “Hey Google, show me the front door camera”, and have the image displayed on the screen.

The Home Hub will support 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi connectivity, and it will also have Bluetooth on board as well.

That’s more to go on than what we had with the initial rumor that Google was working on a new smart speaker with a touchscreen, but we’re still missing just how much Google plans on charging for the device and when it will be available. It is likely we’ll see it unveiled at the Pixel 3 event next month, though.
