If you use a Nexus device and use the Gmail app for all your emailing needs, you must have noticed that over the last couple of months, the app has been erratic in notifying you of new emails. Google acknowledged the issue a few weeks back, but has since then been mum about the whole thing, thereby further frustrating Nexus owners.

Thankfully, one of Google’s engineer today posted on the company’s product forums that the issue has been fixed by Google and a fix will be rolled out by the company in a future build. As clarified later, the fix is actually on the server side and Google will not be rolling out any new OTA or Gmail update for this.

Google has not provided any ETA for the complete rollout, so you can only know whether the fix has been rolled out to you or not when you actually start receiving email notifications on your Nexus device.

As a Nexus 6P owner, I cannot say how frustrating this bug has been for me, and I ended up switching to Outlook as my mail client due to it. What about you? Did you switch to any other email client on your Nexus handset due to this bug?
