Google Home Mini

At its Made by Google event, Google today unveiled the Google Home Mini. The smaller and cheaper version of Google Home features an enclosure that is primarily made of plastic. The top of the device is touch sensitive which can be used to control music playback.

Despite its small size, Google says the Home Mini is capable of delivering outstanding 360-degree sound. If you are not satisfied with the sound output, you can also plug in the Google Home Mini with any Chromecast Audio compatible speaker or device. Like its bigger brother, the Google Home Mini also features multi-user support. There is also a Broadcast feature which allows one to broadcast something to all Google Home units in their house.

Along with the release of Google Home Mini, Google is also making its Assistant smarter. You can now use Google Assistant to find your smartphone, trigger a bunch of actions with one keyword, support for more smart home products, and more. Google is also working closely with Nest to better integrate Google Assistant with various Nest products.

The Google Home Mini will be available in Coral, Chalk, and Charcoal. It will retail for $49 in the US with pre-orders starting from today. The device will be available across all major retailers from October 19.
