It has been over a month since Google unveiled brand new features for the Google Home and Google Assistant, all in the effort of making conversations with the digital personal assistant easier and more fluent.

Today, Google announced that it is rolling out its Continued Conversations feature. This will make handling certain, specific tasks a lot easier because you won’t have to constantly invoke the “Hey, Google” or “Ok, Google” trigger phrase to make the digital assistant start listening for what you want to do.

“For the Google Assistant to have a natural conversation, it should be able to understand when it’s being spoken to and should be capable of responding to several requests during an interaction. We’re taking another step forward in making your interactions with the Google Assistant more natural with Continued Conversation, available starting today on Google Home, Google Home Mini and Google Home Max.”

With Continued Conversations, you can say something like, “Hey, Google, how’s the weather? Add lettuce to my grocery list. Remind me to get coffee. Thanks!” and the digital personal assistant will keep tabs on all of that. You’ll need to switch on the feature first, though, as Google is making it essentially an opt-in option.

You can activate it “by going to Settings → Preferences → Continued Conversation and hitting the toggle.”

This means you don’t have to say “Hey, Google” all the time, which is a nice change of pace. The feature is rolling out now, but it’s only available in the United States for now.
