With Chromecast, Google opened the doors on streaming video from one device to the TV. Keeping up with that tradition, Google has just unveiled Google Cast for audio.

Google announced a slate of Google Cast-supported music streaming apps that will allow users to stream their music to supported devices from Android devices, the web and iOS. It will work much the same way that Chromecast does, with a “cast” button that will appear within supported applications, which will allow a user to stream that music with minimal effort to a supported device in the house.

As far as supported devices go, Google has confirmed that devices are coming from LG, Sony and more starting in the Spring of 2015. Things are looking much better on the software side of things, though, as Google’s list of supported applications and services is quite long. That includes popular music streaming services like Pandora, Rdio, Deezer, Google Play Music and more.
