Want to own your own VR enabled camera but don’t have thousands of dollars to splurge on one? Google has you covered. The company today released the Cardboard camera app on Google Play that turns your Android device into a VR camera.

Using the app, you can take a photo by rotating your phone around in a circle, which you can then experience in all its VR glory when you place your smartphone inside a Google Cardboard (or something similar).

Cardboard Camera takes VR photos—moments in time you can relive in virtual reality. Hear the sounds as they happened, and look around to see the scene in every direction. VR photos are 3D, so near things look near and far things look far. Whether its a vacation getaway or a family get-together, VR photos bring you back to that moment.

As Google puts it, VR photos are essentially three-dimensional panoramas with different views for each eye that makes sure that things nearer to you look near and far away objects look far. Being VR ready, the Cardboard camera app will also capture record sound so that you can relive the experience all over again in the future.

The Cardboard camera app is available for all Android devices running KitKat or higher and which have a Gyroscope.
