Google Camera is definitely not an app used by Instagram snapping celebrities today, nonetheless it is a robust, no nonsense camera app that gets the job done for Nexus users.

With today’s update to v3.2.042, Google is making the app even better by re-introducing some of the features that were found in previous versions of the appThis app was also included by Google in the second Developer Preview of Android N and it has now been released with an update.

The most noticeable change seems to be that Google has brought back an old feature, the ability to take pictures while recording a video. This feature was present in the Google Camera app in older Nexus devices, but was removed down the line by the company, and now it seems that Google has decided to bring it back again. Once you install the update, you can take a picture while recording video by pressing the circular button on the top right hand corner which allows for the taking of pictures.

The remaining changes have been made on a user interface level. Google Camera now sports new icons for the shutter and camera swap buttons, whereas the slow motion icon has been completely removed from the video mode. This feature is now no longer an easy-access button, but a menu item in the Camera app Menu.
