When Google announced the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL earlier this year, it also introduced a new feature to Google Assistant that would help keep tabs on potential scam calls.

The call screening feature was made available for both of Google’s flagship smartphones right out of the gate, but for the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL owners out there the wait has edged on. But it’s starting to change, according to Droid-Life. The Google Phone update launched this week apparently also includes the call screening feature baked into it.

There is no doubt that spam calls are spiking again, so getting a handle on them is important. Google found a way to help with that with its digital personal assistant, which makes it possible to field a call with the feature and have the conversation transcribed in real-time. That way you can see what the person on the other end of the call is saying, if anything, and then you can make a decision to answer it yourself or skip it entirely. There is also the option to block the number, too.

It’s worth noting here that the call screening feature is on by default. So when you’ve updated the Phone app and you have the feature on your phone, you won’t have to go into any settings to enable it yourself. If you want to see a demo for it, though, or change some settings, you can go into the Settings menu of the Phone app and choose “Call Screen”.

The feature is rolling out now, so if you have a Pixel 2 or Pixel 2 XL, keep an eye out.
