At Google I/O this year, Google unveiled Duo and Allo, its new messaging apps. While Duo is a simple video calling app, Allo is a new chat messaging app from the company that works similar to WhatsApp and iMessage. Google launched Duo last month and the app has been doing particularly well in developing countries due to its simple to use UI and excellent video quality even on spotty and slow Wi-Fi and mobile data networks.

Allo, however, has yet to launch despite Google promising to launch the app “this summer.” Now, as per @evleaks, Google will reportedly be launching Allo this week on September 21st. Looking at Google’s previous launch timeframes and with fall coming on September 22nd, we will likely see Google release Allo on September 21st — the last day of summer and a Wednesday, which is when Google usually drops new updates for its apps or launches new devices and apps.

Allo comes with a number of new features like Whisper/Shout that lets one change the size of their content to big/small depending on their mood. It will also come with “Ink” that lets one write or doodle on images. The usual emoji and stickers support are also present. Allo will come with Google Assistant built-in, so you can search for information relevant to the conversation without having to switch to another app. You can read more about Allo here.
