Google’s $35 HDMI media streaming device – Chromecast – has met with overwhelming success. Sadly, its been months since the product was released but only a handful of apps on the Play Store have added support for Chromecasting.

Today, Google updated the Play Store to add a separate button showcasing apps that have baked in support for Chromecast. This move from Google comes just as the holiday season is about to begin in the United States, which should help boost the sales, especially when Google is bundling a free movie with device for the holiday season. This move will also help in encouraging developers to add support for Chromecast on their apps.

Right now, the list only contains a handful (seven) of apps including a majority of them from Google itself like Play Music and YouTube.

Once the official Chromecast SDK is released sometime around 10th December, this $35 media should become much more powerful and useful with integration from third party apps like Plex etc.
