It’s a marketing technique that’s as old as the dinosaurs. To rekindle enthusiasm over a product that’s been out for a few months, launch said product in a new color. In November 2013, Samsung announced that they would start selling the Galaxy Note 3 in rose gold. We’ve seen the rose gold variant already on sale in a few Asian countries, but now it’s time for it to come to the United States. According to a leaked Verizon Wireless promotional flyer that was obtained by AndroidCentral, it appears that by the end of this month, Americans will be able to snag themselves a rose gold Note 3 for an unspecified price.
Should you buy the Note 3 knowing full well that Mobile World Congress is next month and Samsung’s Galaxy S5 will be unveiled in March? That’s a decision only you can make, and it all depends on how comfortable you are with the size of your smartphone. As someone who has reviewed the Note 3, I can tell you that it’s an amazing device, but I didn’t exactly fall in love with it. The screen, while gorgeous, felt weird to the touch. The home button on my unit was crooked. And that thin fake metal rim around the perimeter of the phone will dent if you so much as look at it wrong.
Rumors say the Galaxy S5 will be made out of metal, have a faster Snapdragon 805 processor inside, and that it’ll have a 2K display that measures 5.2 inches on the diagonal. If you don’t mind the 0.5 inch drop in screen size from the Note 3 to the S5, then I recommend you wait.
