At an event in China, Gionee today unveiled two new smartphones: the M5 Enjoy and the M5 Plus. While both devices sport different specs and cater to different needs of consumers, they both feature a huge 5000mAh battery.
The Gionee M5 Plus is the higher-end of the two handsets unveiled today. It features a 6-inch AMOLED display with Full HD display that is protected by a 2.5D glass. The phone has a screen-to-body ratio of 77.5 percent which does a good job of making the phone appear smaller than it actually is.
Under the hood, the M5 Plus is powered by an octa-core MediaTek MT6753 chipset clocked at 1.3GHz, a Mali-T720 GPU, 3GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. It also comes with a microSD card slot; a fingerprint sensor that is integrated into the home button; and dual SIM connectivity with LTE support on both. The rear of the handset houses a 13MP camera with Phase Detection Auto Focus and an LED flash, while the front houses a 5MP front shooter.
The 208g heavy handset features a 5020mAh battery that also supports fast charging. Interestingly, the handset comes with a USB Type-C port and not a microUSB port.
The Gione M5 Enjoy is a lower-end handset that features a 5.5-inch 720p display. It is also powered by a MediaTek MT6753 chipset clocked at 1.3GHz and features 3GB of RAM with 16GB of storage space. There is an 8MP shooter at the rear of the handset, with the front housing a 5MP shooter. The home button on the front of the device also houses a touch based fingerprint scanner.
The M5 Enjoy offers similar connectivity options as the M5 Plus including dual SIM connectivity. It also features a gigantic 5,000mAh battery with fast charging support.
The Gionee M5 Plus and M5 Enjoy will go on sale in China through Gionee’s online store starting from December 25. The former has been priced at 2499 Yuan, while the latter has been priced at 1999 Yuan.
