The Always On Display (AOD) feature on the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge looks good on paper, but it has been led down by the poor execution from the company. The feature’s usability is greatly limited by the fact that it can only display unread notifications from a selected few system apps.

In comes the GalaxyXMod Xposed module from developer I_evo. The module is compatible with both Galaxy S7 and S7 edge and provides you with the option to customise the Always On Display. With the module installed, you can replace the default apps whose notifications are displayed. However, you cannot add more than the default number of apps to the AOD mode. You can also replace the stock background image of the Always On Display to something of your choice.

There are a few other catches involved with the module, but in the end, it does provide you with the option to customize the Always On Display to a certain extent. Perhaps the biggest catch is that to get WhatsApp notifications to show up on the Always On Display, you will have to stick to the stock Touchwiz launcher as third-party launchers are not supported.

Before you install the GalaxyXMod Xposed module on your Galaxy S7 or S7 edge, make sure to check the Galaxy App Store to confirm that you are running the latest version of the app.
