Samsung usually operates on a one-year flagship cycle with a slightly upgraded version of its flagship device being released in its home market — South Korea — sometime during the second half of the year. It looks like the company is all set to follow suit this year as well with a Snapdragon 805 powered variant of the Galaxy S5 being released later this month on SK Telecom, if reports from The Korea Times and Yonhap News are to be believed.
Carriers in South Korea are ready to roll out an upgraded LTE-A network in the country, which provides a maximum download speed of 225Mbps. However, the Galaxy S5 only supports download speeds of up to 150Mbps.
The Snapdragon 805 powered Galaxy S5 will come with a new modem from Qualcomm that would allow it to support the yet to be deployed LTE-A network in South Korea for higher download speeds. According to Yonhap News, SK Telecom and Samsung will be unveiling the Snapdragon 805 powered Galaxy S5 next month on June 19th.
The Galaxy F a.k.a the Galaxy S5 Prime is also rumored to feature a Snapdragon 805 processor but it is not yet known if both these devices are the same.
