Galaxy Tab 2 8.4 over-heating

Last week, a Russian website reported that the back of the Galaxy Tab S 8.5 were deforming due to overheating issues. Today, Samsung has released an official statement on this matter saying that the deformation is being caused due to a defective back cover and has nothing to do with the device overheating.

Below is Samsung’s official statement on this matter:

Contrary to certain media reports, the slight disfiguration that has formed on the rear surface of the Galaxy Tab S has been attributed to a limited number of defective back covers, which has no relation to the overheating of the application processor or the material used for the back cover.

We would like to assure our customers that we have already resolved the issue. We ask affected customers to please contact their nearest Samsung Electronics customer service center.

On the bright side, existing Galaxy Tab S owners can get the problem solved by getting the back cover replaced or getting a replacement unit altogether by contacting their nearest Samsung service center, which is all that should matter in the end.
