Samsung has just grown the “Galaxy Tab 3” family with two new products, the Galaxy Tab 3 8 and Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 (above). Horrible names aside, the South Korean hardware maker wants to give people a range of sizes to choose from, so these new 8 inch and 10.1 inch models will suite those who have poor eyesight.

Both 8 inch and 10.1 inch Tabs output 1280 x 800 pixels, which is rather anemic in this day and age. The 8 inch model has a dual core 1.5 GHz processor from an unknown vendor, 1.5 GB of RAM, and a 5 megapixel camera. The 10.1 inch model has a dual core 1.6 GHz processor from an unknown vendor, 1 GB of RAM (!!!), and a weaker 3 megapixel camera. Both run Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, and both apparently have 4G LTE as a standard feature.

Curiously, Samsung hasn’t said anything about Intel. All the rumors were saying that the Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 would be the first Samsung tablet to sport an Intel chip, but that’s obviously not the case here. At least that’s what it looks like. I’d think if Samsung was using an Intel chip they would say something about it.

There’s always Samsung’s upcoming event on the 20th. Maybe we’ll see some Intel love there? Also, don’t forget that there’s a 7 inch Galaxy Tab 3. Bit of a warning though, the specs are quite poor.

Update: With regards to pricing: No clue. Dates: Early June. And as for Intel, Reuters just published a piece saying the 10.1 does indeed use an Intel chip. How incredibly odd for that information to NOT be in Samsung’s official press release, wouldn’t you say?
