Just as the leaks had pointed out, Samsung today announced that it is starting the Android 8.0 Oreo beta program for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. Apart from bringing all the new features introduced by Google in Oreo, Samsung is also bumping its skin to Samsung Experience 9.0 with the update.
The Galaxy S8 originally launched with Samsung Experience version 8.1, while the Galaxy Note 8 launched with Experience version 8.5. In its announcement, Samsung highlights that its upcoming Experience version 9 is based on Android Oreo and will “be available on the next flagship Galaxy device.” It further adds that it has rebranded TouchWiz to Samsung Experience to highlight the seamless experience and suite of services that it now offers for its Galaxy devices.
The Experience 9.0 beta program for selected Galaxy S8 and S8+ customers will start from November 2, 2017, in South Korea, the U.S., and the U.K. The company will also open additional beta slots for testing and expand it to other markets before its official release. In the United States, only unlocked, T-Mobile and Sprint variants of the Galaxy S8 and S8+ are eligible for the program. In South Korea, S8 units locked to SKT, KT, or LG U+ are compatible with the program.
To join the Galaxy beta program for the Galaxy S8, install the Samsung Members/Samsung+ app on your device and register for the program. Slots are available on a first come basis.
