Samsung Galaxy S7 edge - always-on AMOLED display

Samsung has updated its Always On Display app through the Galaxy Apps store for the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge to add new functionality to them. Among other changes, the update introduces the ability to only enable Always On Display during a certain time of the day.

Other improvements added to the app include the dual clock now being called world clock, with support for up to 4 locations, and the Night clock time being reduced to 18 hours from the original 24 hours.

Always On Display update

The update also seems to add unread notifications support for some third-party messaging app, though the feature is only working sporadically for some Galaxy S7 owners. The official change log from Samsung does not mention anything about this change, and considering that the feature only works sporadically and with some third-party messaging apps, it is likely that Samsung is still testing this feature.

If you have not already received the Always On Display update notification on your Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 edge, you can head over to the Galaxy Apps store, tap on the 3-dot overflow menu button, select ‘My Apps’ and then update the app from there.
