The folks at Business Insider got an inside look at how Samsung tests its Galaxy devices before they reach the market. Needless to say, it’s a pretty lengthy and detailed process which involves several tests to give the buyers their money’s worth.

Given that smartphone radiation has been attributed to several major illnesses, manufacturers look to reduce emissions from their devices to a bare minimum. Some of Samsung’s tests make sure that the handset doesn’t output radiations beyond the threshold of human consumption.

Then there are others which test the durability of certain aspects of the device such as the lock and home button. This is conducted with a machine that continuously presses these hardware buttons to see how long they last without breaking down. Samsung also conducts a dedicated dust absorption test for the Galaxy S5 to see that no particles enter the device even with high exposure.

For all you drop test lovers, Samsung has a dedicated bunker as well. This helps them ascertain which component is more likely to be affected with a drop. The handset then goes through thermal scanners while running certain tasks to ensure that overheating isn’t a problem. And just to be safe, Samsung gives its smartphones a zap of static electricity to make sure that it remains resistant to shocks.

The smartphone also goes through audio and camera tests, including a dedicated flash one to make sure that everything is working smoothly. It is clear that Samsung takes every feature of its smartphone very seriously so that user experience is not hindered. Check out the gallery below showing the strenuous testing process.
