A new report has revealed that the Galaxy S5 will go up for preorder in the UK on the 28th of March, exactly two weeks before it is officially on sale — April 11. This preorder will allow customers to reserve a unit when the Samsung flagship officially hits the markets, thus making them one of the first to own it.
Pricing details will be disclosed then, but speculations have suggested that the Galaxy S5 could cost £500 or £600 off contract, indicating that your wallets could take a beating to get one of these. This is contrary to reports which claimed that Samsung will keep the pricing to a minimum to attract potential buyers, but that doesn’t seem to be the case according to numerous preorder listings we’ve seen across the world.
The Galaxy S5 houses a 5.1 inch 1080p display in its plastic/polycarbonate exterior and also comes with a 16 megapixel camera, a 2.5 GHz Snapdragon 801 chipset and 16 or 32GB of storage with 2GB of RAM. Android 4.4 KitKat comes by default with the company’s proprietary TouchWiz UI. Other noteworthy features include a heart rate sensor on the back, and a fingerprint scanner on the home button.
