Samsung is yet to announce the mini variant of the Galaxy S5, but the handset’s press renders have already leaked a few times on the Internet. Today though, courtesy of a SamMobile source, we get to have our first look at some real-life pictures of the Galaxy S5 mini side by side its bigger brother, the Galaxy S5.
The tipster also confirmed the specs of the S5 mini, which will sport an Exynos 3 Quad processor clocked at 1.4GHz, a Mali-400MP4 GPU, 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, an 8MP rear-shooter and a 2.1MP front-facing camera. A 4.5-inch 720p AMOLED display will sit in the front of the handset protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3.
Minus the specs, the Galaxy S5 mini is looking to be a true mini variant of the Galaxy S5 and will sport all the other features and goodies found on the latter. This includes a heart rate monitor at the back, a fingerprint scanner integrated into the home button and an IP67 certification. On the software side, the handset will be running on Android 4.4.2 KitKat with the latest version of TouchWiz and include all the bells and whistles like an Ultra low power saving mode, Kids mode and more.
It is not yet confirmed as to when Samsung plans on unveiling this handset. The company is holding an event tomorrow to announce some new Galaxy Tablets and it is very well possible that it unveils the Galaxy S5 mini along with them.
