Samsung has mentioned that the company’s Galaxy S5 flagship will be announced in India on the 27th of March, which is this Thursday. The smartphone has already gone up for pre-order in several regions, so this doesn’t come as a surprise.
There’s no word on the pricing at the moment, but availability is expected to commence on the 11th of April. The Indian variant of the handset is expected to come with an Exynos 5422 octa-core chipset, which should be confirmed by the company this Thursday during its press event.
Barring the change in chipset, the smartphone will share all its hardware from the LTE capable Snapdragon 801 model. That includes the 5.1 inch 1080p Super AMOLED display, a 16-megapixel ISOCELL camera, Android 4.4 KitKat, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage and Android 4.4 KitKat with a slightly revamped TouchWiz user interface.
The smartphone will also feature a 2,800 mAh battery with Ultra Power Saving Mode which will keep the device running for up to 24 hours after the battery capacity has reached 10%. The Galaxy S5 also comes with a dedicated heart rate monitor and a fingerprint scanner with support for PayPal authentication.
