Post the Galaxy Note 7 incident, Samsung played safe in terms of battery capacity with the Galaxy Note 8 and equipped it with a modest 3300mAh battery. This year though, it looks like the company is once again going to push barriers in terms of battery capacity with the Note 9.

Leaker Ice Universe alleges that Samsung will be bundling a beefy 4,000mAh battery on the Galaxy Note 9. If true, this should definitely help the Note 9 in offering stellar battery life — something which the initial Note handsets were known for. The leaker is “100% sure” the Note 9 will come with a 4,000mAh battery. For this, Samsung has reportedly switched back to a horizontal dual-camera setup on the device as well so as to maximize internal space.

Even better, Samsung will be launching an even faster wireless charger with the Note 9 if some FCC documents are anything to go by. This also points to the handset coming with a faster wireless charging technology and perhaps faster wired charging as well. Samsung’s recent flagship devices have been offering Quick Charge 2.0 speeds while the industry has moved to other faster charging standards so an upgrade is overdue here.

Our Take

Faster charging speeds will go well with the Note 9 if it indeed ends up shipping with a massive 4,000mAh battery. The huge battery would also ensure that the handset is able to last through a day of heavy use with ease which the Note series of devices were known for at one point. However, until and unless there are more concrete leaks confirming the Note 9’s 4,000mAh battery capacity, I’d say its better to take these rumors with a pinch of salt.
