The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will be officially revealed later today at a dedicated event. Ahead of its launch, it’s customary for retailers to jump the gun and prematurely list the product. A new revelation from UK retailer Carphone Warehouse however has pretty much scared all fans in the region.

As per the retailer’s listing, the SIM-free or unlocked version of the Galaxy Note 8 will set you back by £869 ($1113), while the contract prices reportedly start from £49 ($62) per month and £59.99 ($77) if you intend to choose the 5GB data option with the device. This doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence among fans in other parts of the world. If this is any metric to go by, the pricing could extend well beyond $1000 in the U.S., which will certainly be a first for Samsung.

The phone was always expected to be more expensive than the Galaxy S8 which launched earlier this year, so this isn’t really surprising. However, given the bad press surrounding Samsung since the Galaxy Note 7 disaster last year, one would have expected Samsung to take a more measured approach this time around.

The Galaxy Note 8 is expected to be a beefier version of the Galaxy S8, with a 6.3-inch 4K resolution (3840 x 2160) Super AMOLED display, 6GB of RAM, the octa-core Snapdragon 835 SoC or the Exynos 8895 for EMEA markets, and an enhanced version of the iris scanner on the front.

The company is also expected to use a dual-camera layout for the first time in the form of two 12MP sensors, thus joining the ever growing list of phones with dual-cameras. The phone will reportedly come with a fingerprint scanner embedded within the screen, which will be something to look forward to. The handset will feature a hardware Bixby button, much like the Galaxy S8. The Galaxy Note 8 is expected to be available in Midnight Black, Maple Gold, Orchid Grey and Deep Sea Blue color variants.
