Up until now, rumors have indicated that the Galaxy Note 7 will come with a Snapdragon 823 chipset. There have been no official confirmation from Qualcomm regarding the existence of this chipset, but the rumor mill pointed towards this chip coming with slightly higher 2.3GHz clock speed vs. the 2.15GHz on the Snapdragon 820.
Now, as per a Geekbench listing of the SM-N930R6 variant of the Galaxy Note 7, the handset will be powered by a Snapdragon 820 chipset, and not the 823. The Geekbench listing also confirms that the Note 7 will come with 4GB of RAM, and not 6GB as rumors had pointed until now.
So, a less powerful chipset than anticipated and 4GB RAM, which is becoming the norm even in mid-range devices these days — Does that make the Note 7 less powerful? Not really. A slightly faster chipset and 6GB RAM might help the Note 7 perform better in benchmarks, but the real life performance impact is going to be almost negligible.
Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Note 7 in early August. The handset will sport a 5.8-inch curved Quad HD Super AMOLED display, and come with a 12MP f/1.7 aperture rear shooter. Leaks have also shown off the new version of TouchWiz that Samsung will be bundling on the Note 7 this year. The UI seems to do away with cartoonish icons and has more streamlined options and features.
