With quite a bit of time between now and the expected launch of the next phablet in the Galaxy Note lineup from Samsung, it’s understandable that the finer details might not be confirmed quite yet. As we see leak after leak find its way online, the biggest question at this stage is which processor is going to be tucked inside the Galaxy Note 4 when it finally lands in the market.

The newest report from SamMobile, which works in conjunction with an AnTuTu report regarding processors in the Galaxy Note 4, doesn’t do anything to help us figure out which chipset Samsung is going to include in their newest flagship device. As it stands right now, it’s been whittled down to two prime candidates: Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 805 processor and an Exynos 5433 processor from Samsung. The AnTuTu report showcased an Exynos chipset that managed to outperform the processor from Qualcomm, while at the same time basically indicating that either chipset will be a good choice for the manufacturer in the final design. SamMobile points out that the Exynos 5433 sports four Cortex-A7 cores, as well as four Cortex-A15 cores, which is a slight change from what the original AnTuTu benchmark.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Samsung hasn’t decided on which processors to go with yet, and it shouldn’t be a shock if Samsung decides to offer up two (or more) variants, each with a different processor running under the hood. Indeed, SamMobile confirms that Samsung will go with two models later this year, with the projects currently known as “TB and “TR.” The main differentiation will reportedly be their SoC configurations.

In an interesting addition, it sounds like Samsung could have another chipset waiting in the wings, and this processor could be even more powerful than what we’ve been seeing. It’s reportedly being called the “HelsinkiPrime.” For reference, the Exynos 5430 went by “Helsinki,” and it’s been widely believed that the “HelsinkiPro” is the Exynos 5433 — the chipset being considered for the Galaxy Note 4. It sounds like a bit of a free-for-all right now in Samsung’s design teams when it comes to the Galaxy Note 4, so it sounds like anything is possible for the final reveal later this year.
