Yesterday the specs of the Galaxy Mega 5.8 were leaked, courtesy of SamMobile, and today the site is at it again with the specs for the larger Galaxy Mega 6.3.
They say it’ll have a 6.3 inch HD screen, which I’m going to assume means 720p, dual core 1.7 GHz processor, 1.5 GB of RAM, 8 MP camera, and a massive 3,200 mAh battery. The Mega 6.3 will likely run Android 4.2.2 when it ships, and it’ll come in two variants, one with LTE, the other without.
The device itself will measure 88 mm × 167.6 mm × 7.9 mm. To put that into some perspective, that will make it 8 mm wider than the Note II and 15 mm taller. At least it’s thin, right?
Like I said in my article yesterday, to understand the Mega, all you have to do is look at the Galaxy Grand and the Galaxy Note II. The Note II has a 5.5 inch 720p screen and a stylus, whereas the Grand has a WVGA display and no stylus support at all. The Grand was essentially made as a “budget” version of the Note.
The Mega family will be the same thing. You’ll have the ultra high end 5.9 inch Galaxy Note III, and then the cheaper Mega 5.8 and Mega 6.3 models. The Note III will almost certainly do 1080p, whereas the 5.8 will do qHD and the 6.3 will do 720p.
Now the important question: When will these Mega phones be announced?
No one knows, but my gut tells me we’ll see these devices before Samsung announces the new Note.
